Battenfeld: Wisconsin case yet another judge who thinks they’re above law

With the arrest of a Wisconsin judge for letting a domestic violence suspect flee ICE all judges and judicial nominees in Massachusetts should be sought whether they would also shield illegal immigrants charged with a crime from bureaucrats The Governor s Council and Gov Maura Healey should make it a litmus test for all future judges Would you violate the law to protect a criminal suspect here illegally The question is especially relevant in Massachusetts because of the obstruction of justice indictment of Judge Shelley Joseph and a court officer for helping an illegal immigrant narcotics suspect sneak out of Newton District Court before being detained by ICE Joseph did surrender and the feds eventually dropped the charges but last year the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct in a highly unique move filed charges against her The Commission charges that Judge Joseph has engaged in willful judicial misconduct that brought the judicial office into disrepute as well as conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice and unbecoming a judicial officer the Commission wrote last December Joseph forthwith became a poster child for Democratic activist judges who think they are above the law Maybe inspired by Joseph another judge for the Boston Municipal Court last month launched an study and issued a contempt of court finding against an ICE agent who arrested a Dominican Republic national defendant in the middle of his trial Judge Mark Summerville indeed referred the ICE agent to the Suffolk DA s office for prospective criminal charges After first criticizing ICE for detaining the suspect Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden rebuked Summerville calling his actions patently illegal The Wisconsin development last week was the latest instance of a an arrogant judge thinking they are above the law and similar to the Joseph situation in Massachusetts Judge Hannah Dugan was charged with felony obstruction and concealing someone from arrest after she let an illegal immigrant domestic violence suspect out of the courthouse through a private exit The release led to a -minute foot chase by personnel which could have become dangerous and endangered innocent civilians Dugan of subject has now become a folk hero among progressives who blame the Trump administration for the crackdown on criminal illegal immigrants Driven by Trump derangement syndrome Democrats are siding with illegal immigrant gang members and asking for due process for them With the Wisconsin scenario the Democratic left are so crazed they are going soft on domestic violence The illegal immigrant from Mexico Eduardo Flores Ruiz appeared in Dugan s courtroom for a pre-trial conference related to multiple counts of battery and domestic abuse The real question should be focused on the judges illegal conduct These judges think they are all powerful and operating above the law No one is above the law So judges get to decide which laws to enforce and help a criminal suspect escape It s outrageous The Massachusetts Governor s Council if they ever get a backbone should take the lead and demand answers from all judicial nominees and current judges on where they stand on ICE detainers The inhabitants requirements to know which judges think they can flagrantly break the law If they really want to be activists come out and declare it District Court Judge Shelley Joseph Herald file
